Dahlias are among our absolute favourite cut-flower to grow! They offer so many beautiful colours to choose from including soft pastels and deep rich jewel tones. They come in a range of sizes and textures too! If you have never tried growing dahlias, we recommend giving it a try!

Dinnerplate dahlias are stunning and cause garden visitors to stop in their tracks! These lush plants produces masses of 8" plus sized blooms!

This variety has a subtle cafe au lait colour and produces masses of 9" blossoms! A BRN favourite.

A few tips for growing dahlias:

To give them a head start on the season plant tubers in containers indoors approximately a month before the last frost date. Place your container in a bright window. When the chance of frost is over you can transplant your dahlia to its place in the garden. (Be sure to temper the plant.)

At the end of the season, your tubers can be lifted and stored for next year. After the first hard frost, cutback the plant so there is approximately 2" remaining out of the soil. Leave the tuber in the ground for approximately a week following. After that gently dig up the tubers, remove excess soil and allow them to completely dry. You can then store the tubers in single layers in well-ventilated paper bags, newspaper or the like in a cool, dry spot with good circulation. (Dahlia tubers cannot freeze and will not overwinter in our climate. If you do not want to lift and store tubers, treat them like an annual.)
